In partnership with Handheld Europe, Arcontia was selected by Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), Switzerland to equip bus conductors in Melbourne, Australia with mobile devices for contactless ticket inspection onboard buses.

The contract for handheld devices was awarded in 2009, and includes Handheld’s rugged M3 eTicket PDA with a fully integrated ISO 14443 A/B smart card reader from Arcontia. The combination of the reader and PDA allows for a fully embedded solution that provides conductors an ergonomic and rugged device needed for fast ticketing validation.   

Myki, Melbourne’s new ticketing system is one of the world’s largest smart card ticketing systems operating on trams and buses in and around Melbourne.
