The Netherlands

In partnership with Handheld Europe and Sigmax BV, Arcontia has equipped Dutch Railways (NS) in the Netherlands with rugged mobile devices for ticket control and travel information. The contact included 10,000 rugged Nautiz PDAs from Handheld, out of which 6,000 were Nautiz eTicket Pro PDAs with a fully embedded ISO 14443 A/B smart card reader from Arcontia. The reader was fully integrated into the PDA without any hardware changes to it, thanks to the unique design of the smart card reader and antenna.

All first line personnel at NS will have their own PDA, which will help them in their daily work, as well as increasing convenience, innovative time saving adn seamless travelling passengers. NS covers most of the Netherlands, connecting major town and citites, and serving over 1.1 million passengers daily.
