ARCO E-ticket terminals for reloading travel cards in the nationwide payment system for public transport in the Netherlands.

Starting in 2009, Arcontia has rolled out ARCO E-ticket terminals to RET in the Netherlands for topping up OV-Chipkaarts. The terminals are placed at various fixed locations, such as tobacco stores, bus and trains stations, for easy accessibility and user convenience.

Travellers can top up their travel cards with EMV based bank cards or via the Internet. The terminal is equipped with an EMV card reader, an ISO 14443 A/B contactless smart card reader, a PIN pad with a graphical display, a thermal printer, a 32 bit ARM processor and GPRS communication for fast and secure transactions.

ARCO E-ticket is a joint cooperation between Arcontia and Mobility Commerce Services (Mcom). The collaboration takes advantage of Arcontia’s global and technical expertise in the field of smart card readers and terminals, and Mcom’s expertise in payment solutions. ARCO E-ticket is also designed for onboard use, and has been successfully rolled out to a number of buses in the Netherlands.

As the OV-Chipkaart is implemented throughout the Netherlands, the roll-out of ARCO E-ticket terminals for both onboard and stationary use continues throughout 2009.
